What affiliate links are
Some links on DeskOps are affiliate links. That means if you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission — typically a percentage of the sale — at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you'd gone to the store directly.
Programs we participate in
We may earn commissions through programs including Amazon Associates, PartnerStack (for software subscriptions), ShareASale, CJ Affiliate, and Impact.com, as well as direct partnerships with gear and software brands. Specific programs are named where relevant in our articles.
How this affects our reviews
It doesn't change our verdicts. Our rule, stated in every review: we never recommend a product we wouldn't expense ourselves, and when the budget pick is 90% as good, we say so. Rankings are decided by testing — comfort-per-dollar measured in real workdays — before any affiliate relationship is considered. If a product is bad, we say it's bad, regardless of commission rate.
Display advertising
DeskOps may display advertising served by third-party ad networks (such as Mediavine Journey). These ads are clearly separate from our editorial content, and advertisers don't influence what we review or recommend.
Sponsored content
If a brand ever pays for a review or guide, it will be clearly labeled as sponsored at the top of the page. Sponsored content is rare here, and sponsors don't get veto power over our conclusions.
